After
a successful career in complex litigation, in 1987, Matt joined
the United States Peace Corps, and lived and worked in a small
village in Niger, Africa, learning the local Hausa language and
improving the lot of his friends in the village through modest,
but significant, improvements, such as installing a well for crop
irrigation.
He
joined Danielson Harrigan Leyh & Tollefson in1990. Matt focuses
on in-depth analysis of the most complex legal problems and has
special expertise in insurance litigation, environmental litigation
and anti-trust matters.
Matt
spends half his time in pro bono legal work at the Northwest Justice
Project and the King County Bar Association Neighborhood Legal
Services program. In 2004 Matt received the Pro Bono Award from
the Washington State Bar Association in recognition of his many
years of service. The late William Dwyer, an eminent federal judge,
called Matt "a pro bono hero."
